With over 330 days of sunshine a
year and scorching summers with long warm evenings, Marbella
has become the envy of all!
Glamour, celebrities...
Having undergone major rejuvenation in recent years, Marbella
has now truly regained its rightful place as one of the
world's premier resort locations. This is primarily due
to the worldwide investment that has been attracted
in recent decades, restoring the city to its former glory
as Spain's most exclusive destination.
The area has been awarded with national and international
prizes for security and cleanliness, and the glamorous celebrities
who holiday or choose to live here are a tribute to this
transformation. Marbella is the jewel in the Spanish tourist
crown. Only the capital Madrid has more five star hotels.
Thousands of tourists pass through the Marbella Arch
to visit the ever-growing list of attractions. The old
town oozes with charm and is well worth a visit with
its beautiful parks, Andalusian cafés, musical fountains
and narrow cobbled streets.
Clubs and culture...
Along the cosmopolitan "Sun Coast" there are many English
theatres and cinemas, as well as numerous bridge, chess
and social clubs catering to nearly every nationality. Culture
is well catered for in the form of classical plays, concerts
and ballets, frequently held in an amphitheatre surrounded
by lush tropical gardens. Two magnificent casinos,
superb entertainment complexes and a new shopping centre,
as well as a safari park, water parks, theme parks,
beautiful beaches, swimming pools and fitness centres galore
really give you a feel for what the Costa del Sol has to
offer.
Exploration…
Marbella, nestling in southern Andalusia, enjoys its own
microclimate and is near to one of Spain's most scenic and
historic areas. Only a short drive away, lie the ancient
cities of Granada, Sevilla and Córdoba,
steeped in history and fascinating Moorish architecture.
Sevilla, the capital of the province, is acclaimed
as Spain's most beautiful city and is accessed by a new
motorway built with EU funding. Since Expo '92, the city
has expanded as a tourist destination and is well worth
a visit.
You can also enjoy the breathtaking views as you drive
inland through the white villages and the scenic town of
Ronda, perched on a cliff with Spain's oldest bull-ring
and museum. If you have the time, the beauty and culture
of southern Spain await you.
