Eastern Marbella offers great Value for Money Properties

The eastern side of Marbella has long been a favourite with families seeking a quieter life in genteel surroundings. The area offers great sea views and fantastic beaches, excellent amenities and a wide range of both holiday homes for rental and luxury properties for sale. It’s always a good idea to visit the area where one wishes to purchase a permanent or holiday home several times at different periods of the year. Cabopino, Calahonda and Elviria are great destinations for an initial recce of what Marbella at the Costa del Sol has to offer to families.

Cabopino, Calahonda and Elviria all offer golfers excellent golf courses right on their doorstep, while families with a sense of adventure will find a plethora of things to do, too. There is the tree-top adventure at Marbella’s very own adventure park, located just outside Elviria and the district’s amazing golden beaches offer numerous activities and entertainments throughout the summer months.

Cabopino Properties

In Cabopino it is possible to purchase a 2-bedroomed apartment with a fully equipped kitchen,  garage and storage room plus large sun terrace for £57,689 or EUR 188,000. Most resale apartments offer residents access to communal gardens and swimming pools, but some of the more luxurious apartment complexes also feature their own gym, private security guards and access to beaches or golf courses.

Resales offer great value for money, as most owners typically include existing furniture in the asking price. Searching listings on several websites can be time consuming, so it’s not a bad idea to register with a few established and experienced property developers and estate agents to build up a picture of what type of properties sell well in the area and how much they sell for. Buying a Spanish home is after all also a long-term investment, so it’s important to buy at the right price, if capital gains are important to you.

Spain’s economic downturn has caused some considerable conundrums for anyone hoping to establish a new business. They will find a plethora of businesses for sale, but probably not a great deal of hope to make such businesses work under current conditions. However, people with hotel and catering experience should be able to find some excellent bargains that should yield good returns quite quickly, as Spain is experiencing a surge in tourist numbers.

Properties in Elviria

The lower end of the market offers great entry level apartments. Brand new one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments located in front line golf developments cost between EUR 150,750 and EUR 352,000. Built to a high quality standard and with amenities close by, such apartments are ideal as holiday homes, either for self-use or for letting out to tourists.

Luxury two-bedroom apartments sell for around £167,000/ EUR 199,000 and feature 2 bathrooms, a hallway and fitted kitchen, a living/dining room, great views, communal gardens and swimming pool. Leafy green and tranquil Elivira is located a mere ten minutes’ drive from central Marbella.

Resale townhouses with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, large living room with fire place and fully fitted kitchens, air conditioning in all rooms and large terrace, private garden, communal pool, and a garage for up to four cars sell for around £230,000 / EUR 274,000 in the La Mairena development in Elviria.

Calahonda Properties

For ca. £146,800 or EUR 175,000 it is possible to purchase a two-bedroom townhouse in Sitio de Calahonda, a tranquil and pleasant neighbourhood ideal for families with small children or people wishing to retire. Small homes such as these boast two floors with two double bedrooms on the first floor, both ensuite, a large glass-fronted terrace with sea views, a private driveway and garden.

Detached starter homes with two bedrooms start at around £160,000 or EUR 190,000, while three-bedroomed properties sell for ca. £163,500 / EUR 195,000, boasting private gardens, sun terraces and great views.
