Marbella Christmas Events 2014

Marbella Christmas Events 2014

Dec 25, 2014
Marbella residents have a whole year to look forward to the wonderful Christmas events the Town Hall organises every year. 2014 is no exception and this year's events are guaranteed to put a smile on children's faces.

From concerts to an appearance by the Three Wise Men (Los Reyes) themselves at the Three Kings Parade, there's something for everybody to enjoy - and the hundreds of sweets thrown during this magnificent parade are just the icing on the cake for the children in the audience.

Marbella's festive season starts on 28th November with the official unveiling of the nativity scene in the Plaza de la Alameda and ends on 6th January.

Children and their parents soon start queuing up for Santa's Grotto at the Parque de la Alameda and visitors strolling through Marbella Old Town marvel at the magical fairy lights that sparkle and tinkle above them and in the display windows of the town's boutiques, souvenir shops and restaurants. Calle Enrique del Castillo is one of the best places to see Marbella's Christmas illuminations.

From Las Chapas, Nueva Andalusia to San Pedro de Alcántara and Marbella Old Town, the festive events aim to delight and instil good will in all.

These are the festivities planned according to the Town Hall's website, but there may be occasional changes and additions, so it's worth while looking up what's on before setting out from your holiday home in Marbella.

Christmas Eve in Marbella, 24th December

At 10.30 the Christmas Parade "Fairies and Duendas at Christmas" are scheduled to appear - go to the exit Avda. Trapiche to catch a glimpse of these magical beings as they prepare to leave Marbella.
At 12.30 the Christmas Parade starts from the Avda. Pablo Ruiz Picasso in the centre of San Pedro de Alcántara and tours the main shopping areas.
At 19.00 visitors can attend Misa del Gallo in the Parish Virgen del Carmen in Las Chapas or
attend midnight mass/Misa del Gallo at

Parroquia San Pedro de Alcántara
Parish Church of Our Lady of the Incarnation in Marbella

Boxing Day in Marbella, 26th December

The turkey and accompanying goodies have been demolished, the presents have been unwrapped, the little ones have played with their new toys to their hearts' content and probably driven everybody else mad in the process - now it's time to take the family out and enjoy some Christmas movies!

The super-successful animated movie "Frozen" will be shown at the Platero Plaza Las Chapas Pueblo at 11.30 and they're even handing out free tickets to fill the cinema. Secure your seat, lean back and let the songs wash over you while you're digesting your turkey sandwiches and your children guzzle popcorn by the bucket-full.

Impress upon them that they must leave room in their tummies, for at 17.00 Marbella Town Hall has scheduled a Children's Christmas Party to take place in the Temple Park and Plaza de La Almeda Square by the Church of San Pedro de Alcántara. There will be entertainments for all ages, activities for the smallest visitors, workshops with a festive theme and bouncy castles by the Park's Garden Cafe. The party ends at 20.30 hours.

27th December in Marbella and San Pedro de Alcántara

At 11.30 Children and their families can enjoy a morning of Christmas Storytelling on the Boulevard de San Pedro de Alcántara : "Fairy Tales" is an enchanting blend of stories, dancing and magic that will appeal to all ages.

Also making an 11.30 hour start is the movie "Rain of Meatballs 2"; showing at the Magallanes Square cinema that is adjacent to the HQ of AVV The Albarizas. Entrance is free to fill the cinema's seats.

At noon families should head to "Mimosin", where activities and popular games will take place at c/ Córdoba San Pedro Alcántara.

After a luncheon that will probably contain more turkey left-overs and mince pies in British expat households, families can attempt to walk off their excess pounds gained during Christmas feasts by joining the Route Motera "Siebla" at 16.00 hours.

During the tour participants will collect gifts of toys that will be delivered to the Hospital Costa del Sol by 17.00 hours, when a big children's party will begin at the Bda. Plaza de Toros de Marbella. The party will include activities for small children, festive workshops, group animation and bouncy castles.

The day ends with another showing of the movie "Frozen" at Fuentenueva Park in San Pedro de Alcántara at 17.30 hours. Admission is once again free.

No doubt many Marbella visitors staying in hotels or rented apartments over the Festive Season will start to dream of a Christmas spent in their own holiday home or retirement residence at the Costa del Sol.

There's always next year - but property prices are gradually stabilising and creeping up in some parts of the Costa del Sol, so for many Marbella visitors one New Year's resolution will be about buying sooner rather than later in 2015!
